Greetings to the esteemed Rod Rambler,
I would like to point out that ever since Xerx’ses did the most horrible, risky, careless thing I have ever heard of – attempting a Ritual of Legend! ! ! He has become more self-aware than likely every soul that has ever held me. How did he learn this ritual those readers of these books might wonder, old Dwarven tomes that talked about runic spell theory, and tales in both Elven and Dwarven Poetry. I believe he left his copy of the Dwarf Poem Book with you when you both last met in person. He was so desperate to hold on to our mutual “friend” that he “winged it” and deliberately invoked power from three gods, an arch angel, and a whole branch of the host of the Spirits of Light against their wills to pay attention to his magicks! All of this from his memory of reading it when he was an apprentice to A’zad, a Minotaur Wizard and Earth Warlock!
What galls me the most is that this was not to further his own agenda but to keep me from being lonely! Most of my existence has been in isolation and Xerx’ses believes he has bonded a sliver of his soul to me permanently! Yes, let that sink in! He appears to have been successful because his eyes I can look out of right now, though he is unaware that this level of control is within my grasp! However, the pain I feel exerting my soul through this new outlet / connection / extension is considerable and I have to rest much between attempts. I know not when our connection will be complete but I feel transformations within me as much as he does. I know not what is in store but I wish that once we are bonded can you include this tale as the scope of what he has accomplished has not been seen since before the Great War! If this works he would be the only living mage to successfully alter an existing rune weapon!
Now I don’t have much longer I can maintain control without him waking up and becoming aware. Since I tried looking out his eyes, that experience was REALLY exhausting! The coin toss here is that he is showing some slow signs of improvement and acting like a much better captain than “everyone” on Rogtilda remembers. We are dealing with a blizzard at sea off the coast of the Orcish Empire found upon the west by northwest edge of the Yin-Sloth Jungles. Mistress Caminata seems perturbed and may do something about the weather on the morrow. Let us hope the good Raulf can help him find a new path to walk if the old one is no longer accessible.
I say that last part because Xerx’ses and I have very different view points on many things and I feel the merging of our souls may have been helping to exasperate his code of ethics. He is terrified about being evil and whether or not he admits it. The admonishment of Osiris left him terrified he will be sent home unable to keep his promise to Isis. He is afraid to pray to his savior for fear of tainting him with the prayers of the unclean. Given that his “first” father, Xerx’ses Lightbringer was a priest of Osiris and his mother a priestess of Isis, is it really any wonder that religion plays such a heavy hand in the mind of one of the most gifted wizards in the current age?
Food for thought.

Wow, Callandor the Puppet Master. It would be freaky to get up in the night and both sword and Xerx’ses saying hello.
Might work in his favour if he ever gets put to sleep magically.
I had not thought about that! I was just wanting to game so bad I started figuring out a way for Callandor to submit a log.
Wow i don’t know of such control. If Burlap were ever to find out…
